Pain and injury from posture and overuse
Many injuries are really a result of accumulated problems from years of sitting or working in certain ways. As an acupuncturist I’ve treated many of these kinds of problems over the years. But without addressing the causes, treatment takes much longer and the problems often return.
I combine principles from modern psychology with tools and practices from Chinese medicine, martial arts and qigong to teach and coach people through making sustainable changes to their work spaces and routines to help resolve and prevent further injuries.
Approaches for managing stress
The modern world is incredibly stressful. With information overload and constant distractions, finding peace and calm can be really difficult.
Massage and Acupuncture treatments can be incredibly rejuvenating, and I can offer a space where you can let go of your stresses.
Outside of treatment, you can learn principles and techniques from behavioural science, qigong and the martial arts to build resilience to stress.
I herniated a disc in my back and had tried several treatment types (including medication, osteopathy and an operation) when a couple of people close to me recommended trying acupuncture… Of course my main goal was simply to have a day where I wasn’t in excruciating pain, but Richard accomplished this and much more. It did take a few sessions to make major improvements (which was explained) but I cannot recommend his acupuncture highly enough – I now no longer need to take the painkillers and am back getting on with my life again! Other symptoms that I had had for years and never thought much of have disappeared and I feel better and more balanced than I have in a long time.
ALEX
Hi, I’m Richard Agnew
I help people who are struggling with pain, injury and stress-related conditions. Often these are related to work, whether that’s a sedentary desk job, or more physical manual work.
I’ve trained in various martial arts and qigong, teaching for the past 8 years or so. I have over a decade of experience giving acupuncture treatments, specialising in pain and injury. Alongside treatment, I teach and write about health and work, applying behavioural science and Eastern wisdom to the challenges of living and working in the modern world.
